this weekend i went to tulsa with two of my best friends and last night we got the urge to play with our hair and make up and take glamour shots (the inspiration for this will be left un-named due to the fact that it can be easily taken the wrong way). anyway...as we were all three crammed in the bathroom, teasing, spraying, straightening and curling our hair, applying powder, blush, eye shadow, and curling eyelashes to be coated in mascara i was reminded of a night i had this summer. this summer i lived with my parents for the first time in a while. one night i was home alone and found myself in my parents bathroom, sitting on the counter with my feet in the sink and my face in front of the mirror. i had my mom's make up drawer open and pulled out every ounce of make up she owned. see, when i was a little girl i used to love sneaking into my parents bathroom to play with my mom's make up. i would try on every single shade of lipstick, every shade of eye shadow and every other kind of make up i came across until my face was almost raw from washing and rubbing off make up to try the next shade. i had no idea what i was doing back then and probably looked like a clown, but it didn't matter. i had on my mom's make up and felt beautiful! so, this summer as i was sitting on the counter i realized that i had tried out every shade of every type of make up my mom had. i was instantly reminded of my childhood and realized that there really are some things in life that you never quite grow out of...

this weekend doing that with two of my best friends made me happy to see that, although we are 22 years old we still love to do some of the same things we loved to do when we were little girls.
